The elephant-like backrest of this chair – its flapping ears, its broad face – is made from a mosaic of wood. Hundreds of tiny wooden squares can still give you a nice bounce, however: a secret layer of foam makes it adaptable and soft. The seat, too, is more flexible, more amenable to suggestion, than it’s chessboard-like appearance would have you believe. This is a chair that embraces its sitter, giving comfort as well as support.
